About the author (2000)

Alex Roney is a lawyer specializing in EC matters. She was one of the first English Stagiares to work for the Commission of the European Communities in Brussels in 1973. She qualified as a barrister in 1970. She was a legal counsellor for the London Chamber of Commerce for 24 years and is now working with Hartwig Solicitors and Winmark Ltd, market research advisers. She is an external examiner for the South Bank University for European Law and has written numerous books and articles on European matters including EC/EU Fact Book - A Complete Question and Answer Guide and The European Union - A Guide through the EC/EU Maze, published by Kogan Page.
